When I Grow Up…

Don’t you remember saying that when you were young? It usually meant that you wanted to be this or do that or be like someone, right? Well, at my age you’d think I’d be past that kind of thinking. Then you meet someone who is 25 years older than you and it becomes very clear that you can still feel that way!! That’s what Beverly Pierce did for me. This precious woman of God, who I met last weekend in Gloucester, VA, not only made me look forward to the years ahead but her very life challenged me to do exactly what the Apostle Paul says in Philippians 3:13,14 “…Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Yes, the goal is Jesus Christ but people like Beverly Pierce make you see Him better.
