Rod and Damaris love Jesus! Their passion for Christ and for the gospel runs deep. They are true servants and lovers of the Lord and of His people. Any time I am around them, I am drawn irresistibly into the presence of God. His Spirit is evident in their lives and ministry in an unusual way.

They that wait…
03/08/2010
I experienced an epiphany driving through Nebraska last weekend. After a Friday night concert in Broken Bow, NE, the next morning we were facing a four hour drive back to Omaha. The clouds were low and threatening rain but it held. The gray skies, my tired body, hundreds of train cars loaded with coal, acres and acres of farmland, and a sign here and there of population less than 100 put me in a sort of melancholy mood. Even though I travel with my husband and best friend, Rod, I felt an ache inside.
Thoughts of God came flooding in my soul and I found myself yearning deeply to see Jesus. I told Rod, “I know we walk by faith but I can’t wait for the day that my faith will be sight.” Rod answered something that I can’t even remember now but I know I said, “Rod, just like you’re talking to me right now, that’s the way I want to hear and see God.” As I was holding Rod’s hand I thought about touching God, too. The emotions made me cry. I felt comforted when I reminded myself that there is no sin in what I was longing for. On the contrary, it’s the “hope of His appearing” that keeps us pure. (1 John 3: 1-3)
I don’t think five minutes went by when Rod said, “Dámaris, an eagle!!!” I saw it and then Rod said, “Turn around. Let’s go back and see if we can take a picture.” We did and there it was, sitting on the ground and looking so beautiful. I told Rod to take as many pictures as he could but then to cross the highway and get closer to the eagle. I knew he would fly away and we would be able to capture that on the camera, too. Those amazing wings picked him up and soon he was out of our sight.
Those verses in Isaiah 40:31 came to me. ”They that wait upon the Lord…” It’s as if the Lord himself was telling me “Dámaris keep waiting. I will give you new strength. Keep waiting and in a little while you will see Me.” What a moment. Even so, come Lord Jesus!

Can’t begin to tell you how much your music blesses me. Have all your Cds. I was just at Myrtle Beach and it was great, especially since I got to fellowship with you and husband at breakfast.

I have just been channel surfing and I ran across Damaris singing a song. I have never ever been touched this way by any singer in my life. I don’t know the name of the song, I just remember it had these lyrics: “these are the plans”. Please, please can someone tell me the song title. God is so good, because I came in at the end of her singing and I did not know who she was, not even her name! But God allowed the announcer to say her first name and that’s how I’ve been able to find this website. I plan on purchasing her music to share with my family, and I really want them to know that God has a plan for us.
If someone could help me with the song title I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks so much.

Wow, Dámaris… what a great story. It brought tears to my eyes. It was the Lord hearing your prayer and reminding you that if you wait on Him, His coming will get closer and closer… He even brought an eagle to show you! Beautiful. This was the encouragement I needed today. Thank you for sharing.

Damaris, Once again your inspiring message has deeply touched my heart and I want to reassure you that God will satisfy your soul even in the drought. The Psalmist declared; “You are the Lord, who satisfies our longing soul with good things, so that our youth is renewed like the Eagle’s.” We have listen to you sing for years. My favorite song is “He Has Forgiven Me” and my 11 year old granddaughter, Breona loves, “I’m Giving My Life Away.” God be with you forever. “The blessing of the Lord is upon you. We bless you in the name of the Lord.” Psalm 129.8 The Lord’s servant, Bonnie

Damaris,
Your story was a special touch from God for me. Today would have been my son’s 36th birthday and I have been missing him a lot recently. His helicopter was shot down in Mosul (the ancient Ninevah) four years ago on January 13th, 2006 during his second tour of duty in Iraq. His motto as he led the invasion in 2003 was Isaiah 40:31! One of his friends told me how it began: “When you are deployed and live with someone each and everyday, you get to know them fairly well. I would see Mitch in daily prayer and often reading his Bible or having personal devotions. Prior to deploying across the border, while we were staged in Kuwait, the Squadron chaplain came around giving words of encouragement and sharing scripture passages with the soldiers. Mitch and I attended with many other soldiers from the Troop. The chaplain shared a verse from Isaiah that Mitch and I kinda got a kick out of. It was Isaiah 40:31 – “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.” Of course we were pilots in Eagle Troop, and the verse said “…we shall mount up with wings as eagles…”. Mitch had the call sign Eagle 19 and I was Eagle 16. I can’t remember how many times we would be running to the aircraft on a mission, or getting our gear on to go fly, or just sitting around the tent, and I would look over and ask Mitch “what was that verse again?”. He would get that little smile on his face and quote it every time.”
So, thanks for the story and the beautiful pictures!

AMEN, Damaris! I too want to see Him and hear Him, and touch Him. I want Him to come today, right now, but like Isaiah 40:31 says…wait…! Meanwhile He will give us strength for each new day while we wait for Him. God bless!
In Christ,
Regina
