Of all the Christian musicians I know in the world, none ministers more from the heart and clearly led by the spirit of God than Damaris Carbaugh. Her choice of songs is not only scripturally correct but spiritually convicting and really touches the heart. Her life and testimony are an example of what God can do with a person wholly committed to Him. — Joe Jordan, Executive Director, Word of Life Fellowship, Inc.

How to pray for us

01/07/2010

From time to time Dámaris and I hear those extremely comforting words, “We have been praying for you.” Sometimes they come from friends, sometimes from people that we have never met. There is no way to measure the benefits that we have received from those prayers, as the Lord has either protected us, prospered us, or simply kept our luggage on the same flight.

Knowing that the Lord hears all of our prayers, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him (Heb 11:6), we feel that some of you would be glad to pray for us, if you knew what to pray for.

These are the pressing needs which we sense at the moment:

Our commitments:

We have a lot of open space on our calendar this year, and our commitments are our livelihood. It seems that some people think that Dámaris either has an astronomical fee or will not come unless the crowd is going to be huge. Of course, neither of those things are true. We are not looking just for places to fill our calendar, however, but that the Lord would open the doors so that we would be invited where we could “come in the full measure of the blessing of Christ” (Rom. 15:21). Pray that the Lord would dispel that notion that Dámaris is difficult to invite and prompt leaders of churches or women’s conferences to come to our website and invite us.

Dámaris’s hands:

Dámaris has been suffering in both hands with tendonitis and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, without obvious reasons. It is quite painful, and she really needs some relief. So far, the doctors say wear braces for a while.

Ashley’s job stress:

Our daughter, Ashley, is teaching middle school math at a NYC public school, as well as studying for her Master’s degree. There are some complications to the way she is required to teach, including the fact that she needs to write her curriculum as she goes along. The amount of stress that she is feeling is nearly unbearable. Pray that she would find new creativity in teaching and find favor with her superiors so that the Lord would be glorified in her work with these needy kids. Ashley walks with God, is active in our church choir and really feels swamped.

James’s military career:

Our son, James, is finishing up his Navy training on the SH-60B helicopter and will be based in Japan for three years, leaving this spring. We are thankful that he already has a group of Christian friends in Japan, so he won’t be alone over there. James walks with God, is a deep thinker and avid reader. As he prepares to leave the safety of the US to the South Pacific, pray that he will encourage himself in the Lord and be full of the Holy Spirit as he serves his country and his Lord Jesus Christ in a far away land.

We cannot thank you enough for praying for us. However, we know that your reward will be great in Heaven for diligently serving Him here in intercession.

  1. I appreciate your updated new looking website! It is a pleasure to remember you and your family in prayer. Damaris, you feel like a sister to me, and I have spent many hours singing along with you in the car, shower, or wherever. Thanks for sharing your life, and know that I am uplifting you, Rod, Ashley, and James to our loving Father!

  2. We had the blessing of meeting you and Ron in the King of Prussia this past weekend. Damaris and Ron, you were both a blessing to us in song and in instant friendship/fellowship. Damaris, we will keep your hands in prayer. Have you tried ice packs around your wrists- 15 min every hour when you are in pain.I have the same condition and that simple treatment has given me much relief (ice can be an anti-inflammatory treatment). I played and sang your songs on “The Heart of God” CD all the way home from the conference. I plan to use the performance tract and sing “I Know The Plans” on this Sunday at church. Thanks for having the CDs and tracts available. Jeremiah 29:11 has been a life-line for me in this past year of trials. Having it in song is such a blessing! Damaris thanks for your ministry in song. You are indeed being used of God…everybody knows of you! Though I was not well, I keep thanking God that He pushed me out to the conference. The Lord blessed and encouraged my soul. Have also prayed for Ashley and James per your prayer requests on the website. We won’t forget to pray for your family. We love you and will never forget our warm encounter with you and Ron.

  3. The Lord bless you as a family and individually as you serve in the Kingdom of God. It is a blessing to know a little about your needs, so that we can pray specifically and effectively. I have just prayed for these needs and will continue to do so. I am so blessed that we have been able to book you for our Annual Womens Easter Breakfast at Van Nest Assembly of God on Saturday April 3rd. I know the ladies will be very excited when they hear. May the Lord bless you and keep you and the family as you continue to serve. We will also be praying for the Lord to do great things as you minister on the 3rd.

  6. Stacey and I continue to pray for all four of you and think of you so often. We will more diligently spread the word on behalf of your ministry, too. Thank you for coming to Houston and to Colorado when we needed you, even a time or two when the crowd was small! It spoke volumes to us about your hearts and that is exactly the reason we love you.
