I’ve always been deeply blessed by the ministry of Damaris Carbaugh, not just by the words she sings but by how deeply she feels them! Her music always points us beyond ourselves to Christ, who is the focus of her life and ministry. Let her bless you with her songs of inspiration and hope! — Dr. Erwin Lutzer, Moody Church, Chicago

Someone contacted me discussing a family member’s anger with the Lord in reaction to suffering a setback with his singing ability.  With some editing, I’d like to share what I wrote to that person:
I don’t think I would be exaggerating if I said that what I have left of my voice is but a shell of what it used to be.  However, I would not trade what the Lord (more…)

9780802453037Have you ever felt like you just don’t know where to start?  Recently I was blessed with a little book by John MacArthur that has whet my appetite anew for God’s Word.  It’s called, “How To Study the Bible.”  Don’t you just love that clever title?  I’m kidding.  What I’m most grateful for is how clearly MacArthur makes his points.  It’s small and non-intimidating and yet a great guide for anyone who is serious about getting to know God’s Word.  The book is published by Moody Publishers, Chicago, IL.  I’m glad I have this small (in size only) yet great resource.  Get a copy soon; you won’t regret it.

I just finished reading “How to Choose a Translation for All Its Worth,” by Gordon D. Fee and Mark L. Strauss. It’s a must read for people who want to dig deeper into the Word of God. They explain in a very concise way the when, where, why and how the many Bible versions have come to us.  Even though these two writers are brilliant, you will not find it difficult to understand this very helpful book.  If you want a better understanding of God’s Word and how to study it, then you need to pick this one up now!

Damaris is currently reading a commentary on Phillipians by Gordon Fee.  He has two, this one he refers to as “Little Phil” because the other one is really big!
