Of all the Christian musicians I know in the world, none ministers more from the heart and clearly led by the spirit of God than Damaris Carbaugh. Her choice of songs is not only scripturally correct but spiritually convicting and really touches the heart. Her life and testimony are an example of what God can do with a person wholly committed to Him. — Joe Jordan, Executive Director, Word of Life Fellowship, Inc.

First of all, please accept our sincere thanks for the love you’ve shown our family.  We know the Lord has answered your prayers, and we see daily how He continues to give her strength.  She is able to walk and climb stairs with absolutely no problem.  It’s amazing!  The heart specialist cannot believe how quickly she has been recovering.

We do ask you to continue to pray for those that care for my mom, namely, my precious sister, Debbie, and her incredibly caring husband, Pastor Luis Rivera of Manhattan Grace Tabernacle.  That’s the church we attend.  Besides the great responsibility of overseeing the church, my mother and father live with them. Please pray the Lord will bring the right people to give some of the home care that is now desperately needed.

My mom is doing very well physically, but her dementia is progressing and every day she becomes more and more childlike.

We thank the Lord for the many years He gave her as a minister of the Gospel to proclaim His message so powerfully and we thank God for the way Mom taught us that Jesus is everything!  We also thank the Lord that she still knows all of her children and has not lost her incredible sense of humor.  There are times, however, when it’s very difficult to see her so helpless and feeling lost.

I’m beginning to understand that this season, in my mom’s life, difficult as it may be, is more for us to learn how to trust the Lord and show her the kind of unconditional love that comes straight from the heart of God and flows through those whose heart belongs to Him.

  2. Damaris, I am Cano’s wife, Miram–Tesalonica days. Your mom has been such a blessing to soooo many of us. We will continue to pray for her and your family–we’ve got your back!! As Moses hands were lifted at the battle of Ai, when he had no strength, your hands are being lifted. And just as they won the battle so will you and your family,”it is finished”. Being a caregiver is hard and very taxing, been there, done that, but it is amazing the strength God gives us. I was constantly reminded during the time I took care of mom and 2 terminally ill brothers, that even I didn’t see it or feel it at time, God’s grace would be sufficient for me. But most of all, at the end, there is a tremendous peace, in that we fought the battle and we won with the help of our God. We know that we didn’t leave that love one alone but they had someone to lean on. Cano and I will continue to pray for your family.

    Love,
    Cano & Miriam

  3. Dear Rod, Damaris, and family- Your “#1 Westcoast fan” hasn’t checked in for awhile and I regret this! I want to say a personal thank you for the cherished verse you sent me last spring when my mother’s life was part of my news… All four of you blessed us when we were on the Alaska cruise in 2007! Now, may our LORD send his strength as you minister to your mom and dad as well as to the multitudes of us out here!

  4. Dear Damaris – Thank you for sharing your Mom’s condition with all of us. We want to uphold all of you before our gracious Savior during this time. I took care of my mother, and by God’s almighty grace, it drew me into a much deeper relationship with her as well as with the Lord. Loving her and caring for her, being motivated by Christ is such a blessing. He will, I know, find you faithful to this task. Praying much for you and your family.

  8. Hi Damaris,
I’m sorry to hear of your family situation. You and your husband blessed our church (Petsworth) so much when you visited this fall. I was listening to your “Heart of God” CD today and thought about checking your web site and found this information. I can tell through your sweet spirit, your family is blessed with a God fearing, loving Mother. Thank-you for your commitment to God, your living testimony, and your family’s commitment to sharing his word. Linda and I will continue to pray for you, your ministry, and your family.

    In Christ Alone!

  9. Hi Damaris,
Thank you for the update on your mother’s condition and progress. Praise the Lord for His love, faithfulness, and His wonderful healing power! I’ve been praying for your mom all along, and will continue to pray for her, as well as Debbie and Luis and all who care for her.
My father suffers from dementia also, and it is difficult to see him decline like he has, but God has given him many good years, also. My dad was always a hard-working man, and very devoted to his family, and was always eager to help others. We just love him so much. May the Lord continue to pour out His great love and rich blessings to you and your family.
    In Christ,
    Regina
